ouch

As luck would have it, I fell down the stairs this afternoon and severely hurt my foot. The program administrator sent me to the hospital (once you've registered with the Danish authorities as living here, they give you a CPR number and all medical care is free). I waited for 3 hours before they had a chance to check on me. Baruch Hashem, my foot wasn't broken, but it's swelled and ligaments are torn. So, she gave me crutches and I need to take it easy this weekend (keep in mind I live on the fourth floor and get very restless when I'm not active). I will try my hardest not to go insane this weekend, but I know I need to take it easy so that my foot will heal and I can visit Natalya in a week.

  1. Oh no!! ICE that foot! Ice in fifteen-minute intervals (fifteen minutes on, fifteen minutes off). If you want to reduce swelling even faster, alternate ice and heat (wet a washcloth and stick it in the microwave for a few minutes) in fifteen minute intervals. And don't forget ibuprofen! :-)

(I apologize, my inner Jewish mama and my inner cross-country team coach just conspired to write this comment)

  2. Hey, sorry to ditch this morning. Skype is failing to send my messages and can't seem to connect using the headsets either. I'll talk to you soon! I hope your foot heals/heels (pun intended, as always!)
